Can you find us Great Homes in West Seattle under $300,000?We have met several times. Last time I gave them my Buyer Book and we conducted the buyer interview. Today we are going to look at homes in West Seattle. We meet briefly at their place before going out.I want to make sure they have the Agency Brochure from the last time we met. They do.Did I give them a copy of the Lead Based Paint pamphlet? Yes I had.Did I leave them a blank copy of the Purchase and Sale agreement? I want them to peruse it at their convenience, instead of under duress just before making the biggest purchase of their life. I had showed it to them but not actually left them a copy. Check. Are they ready to sign the Buyer Broker agreement, stating, among other things, that I will negotiate on their behalf? Yes.Off we go. Houses have been selected. Tour printed. Everybody has been called, whether owner or tenant. We are all set.I like the time together in the car. It helps us get to know one another. It also allows me to answer questions and teach about the different steps along the way. We had talked about earnest money, inspections, and the negotiating process.Today we discuss what the mortgage payment covers, and how the deduction for interest works. There is also a baby coming. Baby not only creates the need for more room, but she also gives a tax deduction to help pay for the owned space instead of rented space. We discuss the cost of windows, the ability to paint over the dark brown 1970’s panelling, and what it takes to add a window in a wall that has none.We see a grandma type house in a great part of West Seattle.See a house with an elevator (under $300,000)!Enjoy the Puget Sound view from a house that has been for sale for over 7 months.Experience a house with a recording studio in the basement. And enjoy a classic 1922 house with old world charm in every room and every doorway. We are close to Lincoln Park - this amazing 130 acre waterfront park. I tell them the story of how I proposed to my wife 38 years ago on a park bench in Lincoln Park under a full moon with the ferry going out. They are duly impressed. We come to the end of our tour. I take them back to their place. They will finalize the preapproval over the next several days. Not only will I get to help them find, negotiate and close the house they will raise their children in. But I get to spend time with an awesome young couple who are major contributors to making the world a better place.Altogether a very good day.
